I ended up in this little mountain town in Montana, to get a motel for the night, excited to sleep on a bed for the first time in over a month. When I entered my room, an unexpected familiar sight made me feel surprisingly at home. It took but a second to realize the bedspread was of the same pattern as my favorite wallpaper, which covers a wall in my mother’s kitchen.
While my wallpaper quilt was of the of the standard cheap motel material, feeling more like wallpaper than a quilt, it led to thoughts of my favorite dishes cooked in that kitchen, and that was oddly comforting… Spinach Quiche, Gumbo, Stuffed Cabbage Leaves, Pot Roast…..
